Modern Architect that only used Steel, Brick, and Glass.

Focused on perfect proportions of space and integration of architecture with nature.

Director of Bauhaus in 1930.  A design and architectural school.








Moved to America because of Nazi party.













Created the IIT campus in the 1940s.  Located at the Green Line stop at Sox and 75th.

When it was built it was the largest single enclosure without any supports in the middle.

This is Andy Warhol’s “Clouds”  installation which was up this summer.

The campus is well taken care of and enjoyed by students today.  It is still studied by architectural students.

This is Mies van der Rohe’s signature corner.  It is concave rather than convex.  It creates interesting shadows no matter the time of day.

Chicago Federal Post Office opened in 1973.  Located on Adams and Dearborn.
