first to note, i do not have carolyn’s email…. anyone? she needs to be in on this.

second: any ideas for what we want to do for our workshop?

i just got this cool book “the journal junkies workshop” (and i didn’t even buy it for this reason) that would be a good resource for simple solutions to making our own books. the sections/chapters are broken down into supplies, basic training, and sharpshooting… that doesn’t really explain much to you, but i’ll bring it to class tomorrow so you can see it.

i have a few other books that might be helpful as well….
“how to make a journal of your life”
    “the creative license”
    “an illustrated life”
“what it is” <-Lynda Barry 🙂

…i never received any response in regards to ideas for our proposal.

what do you guys want to do? we're the first workshop. NEXT WEEK! a week from this Wed.

i will be in the 7th floor lab tomorrow after my 9-4 studio. let's put some ideas up here and then if anyone wants to meet me there to wrap up the proposal before class, that's where i'll be.

I want to do a book binding lesson. I am thinking of either doing a simple, standard book binding or a tunnel book lesson. What do you guys think?

Here is a link on tunnel books:

Hello all! I have been looking online for some cool pages about collage as well as artists for inspiration and i found some great things to use. I thought i could do a powerpoint or prezi show of collage stuff and bring in a few of my own journal/sketch books that have collage added to them. One thing i thought that we could do would be collage the covers of the books we make? I have done that and it looks so great. It could be presented as an optional thing for them to do..? But in the end here is what i am thinking of contributing
    – presentation of collage artist, images, links about collage
-examples of my own collage work, journal, sketch books
-collage our covers to our books, i will bring in materials for this, rubber cement, tape, magazines, color paper etc.
Let me know what you guys think about this..
The main reason i think this is fun is it’s a way of collecting images as well as random sources of inspiration and creatively putting it all together, so for journals or sketch books they can be nice documentations of what you are interested in and looking at in your own practice as an artist.

ps. sorry for not getting back to you all sooner.
